Nice is the production capital of the French Mediterranean. It´s the 5th largest city of France and has the 2nd biggest airport and serviced by us, 7 seas – the number 1 photo production company in France. The city rises from the flat beach into gentle rising hills, then is bounded by surrounding mountains that represent the Southern extent of the Ligurian Alps range. The natural beauty of the Nice area and its mild Mediterranean climate came to the attention of the English upper classes in the second half of the 18th century, when an increasing number of aristocratic families took to spending their winter here. The city’s main seaside promenade, the Promenade des Anglais – ‘the walkway of the English’ – owes its name to this early influence. The picturesque surroundings have attracted not only those in search of relaxation, but also those seeking inspiration. The clear air and soft light has been of particular appeal to some of Western culture’s most outstanding painters, such as Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Max Beckmann and Raoul Dufy. Later on it was discovered as a movie location with Bridgett Bardot having a strong influence in the 1950’ and soon after the fashion and advertising world came on-mass to shoot in the region.
The Production point of view:
Our photo production services in Nice are in high demand. Not only is Nice blessed with over 300 days of sunshine, it has also an extraordinary geographical location. The Alps in the back, skiable regions only 1,5 hours away, the Mediterranean in front, Italy to the East and the Provence to the west makes it the most versatile spot on the production with the main airport and heli-port under 10km away. The Mayor’s office staff work professionally and swift and permits are given out quickly. Nice had its production glory in the 80’s and 90’s of the last century, then fell from favour due to administrative and architectural nonsense but is now back in the ballgame. All the big constructions are done, the city employed the best architects in order to restore and renovate squares, buildings, promenades and walkways, giving Nice back even more beauty and style than it ever had, retaining an elegance without feeling neo-chic nor overdone.
